Traveling with your pets can be an amazing experience, but it can also be a daunting and harried experience to say the least. We all know that pets make things that much more enjoyable in each and every way, so here are a few tips to traveling with pets.

  1. Follow All Airline Regulations

Each airline has different regulations regarding pets. Some have certain rules on what type of carrier that can be brought on the plane, while others have rules regarding animal size, etc. For the smoothest check-in possible, make sure to read all rules and regulations beforehand, and try to follow them all exactly as stated. If you have any questions, simply call your airline, they will be more than willing to help.

  1. Bring A Toy or Blanket That They Recognize From Home

Flying can be a nerve-racking experience for some pets, especially for those that have never flown before. To make their trip as peaceful as possible, make sure to pack a toy or blanket that they recognize and place it directly in their carrier. They will be able to smell the fragrant smell of home and instantly become much more relaxed and happy.

  1. If They Get Scared or Nervous, Talk To Them

Now, this is a little bit tricky. If your dog or cat starts to get restless in their carrier, the best thing that you can do is to simply talk to them. Many pet-owners don’t realize how soothing their voice is to their pets. If possible, also stick your hand in their carrier and lightly pet them while talking to them in a soft, melodic voice. As you do this, they should start to relax.

  1. Make Sure They Go To The Bathroom Right Before and Right After Boarding

When pets fly, they might get a little nervous, and nervous pets sometimes have accidents. This is why it is of utmost importance to take your dog or cat to relieve themselves immediately before and immediately after boarding. This will also make them feel more at ease as they are flying, since no animal likes to fly if they have to go to the bathroom.
